The story begins with Steven Beals. Steven started his photographic career in his youth, taking pictures of ancient coins for his father's articles in national numismatic journals. In high school he received second prize nationally in a commercial photography contest sponsored by the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America. From there, Steven's career accelerated rapidly, putting him in the top ranks of American photographers. He has had numerous photos published by Arthur A. Houghton III, former curator of the Paul Getty Museum in Malibu, California and current president of the American Numismatic Society. He's presented and published work in every form and medium, from specialized journals and trade magazines to renowned galleries and exhibitions. Steven founded a small business during the fall of 1984 in his parent's house. When the work kept pouring in, that effort quickly metamorphosed into what is now called Caelestis Productions, located in southeast Portland in its own commercially owned building. In 1999 we purchased 'Mira Film Production' from KOIN Television, building up our stock of motion picture and video equipment. And of course, since 2000 we've been acquiring the latest digital tools for image gathering, audio processing, and nonlinear postproduction.
